I quite enjoyed the book. I was a bit hesitant to get the book. I am an Albion Online fan, and I was worried that a book produced on a sandbox MMO would be a bit lacking. However, I was pleasantly surprised.The book followers the journey of two groups who came to Albion to stake out their claim. However, their ships never make it to the docks and they wash up ashore. The book follows the journey of these two groups who must figure out how to survive and prosper in the harsh wilderness of Albion. The two groups conduct business very differently, and its quite enjoyable to see the contrast.
As for the writing, its often light heated and comical. I could predict most of the story, but some things caught me off guard. I think the writer's style is great and I will definitely look into other books he wrote.
If you play Albion Online, this book incorporates the world of Albion into a fun story. If you aren't an Albion fan, it's a fantasy story with a little bit of a twist on how magic works in a vast unexplored new land.

I usually don’t write a lot of reviews and I don't have a lot of time so this will be short and sweet. I have to say that this is one of the most well written books I have read in a long time. Even if you have never seen or heard about the computer game, Albion Online, this is just an all around great Fantasy.
It always takes two or three chapters for any book to really start drawing me in but once I was into this book I couldn't put it down. The characters are all well written and fleshed out for the most part although I wish there had been a little more story on a few characters, but maybe we will see a sequel.

Decided to give the a book a chance since I do enjoy the game. Enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the sword/bow/magic play. I'll look forward to future tales.
Nice tie-in to the game... can also be read without any knowledge of Albion Online. Good work Mr. Newman!
If you are in the mood for a good sword and sorcery book. This is a nice pick up. Colorful cast of characters. Action, magic, blood and guts, comedy. This one has a little of everything. And if you're into PC games, this book was inspired by Albion.
After finding this game and playing in the beta I picked the book up and read it between the close of beta and launch of the game and I have to say I loved the book. Finding out about the lore of the world was incredibly satisfying and strangely I feel that it helped set my mindset with the game about why guilds exist, how they work, etc... I hope they continue the story!
